Dozens of people flocked to the Art on the Rocks ribbon-cutting last week, officially opening the pottery painting studio that owner Stacey Sparrow relocated this summer from Fitchburg to 875 Merriam Ave. in the Twin City Plaza.

Art and dining merge at The Firestone in Manchester, CT as guests can sit down and paint a pre-made piece of pottery. Or they can make their own at one of their 15 wheels while enjoying a sandwich, salad, or iced latte.

In this week’s Behind the Business, we look at one business in downtown Twin Falls which has given both children and adults a creative outlet.

Hands on was started in 2003 by one local mother who noticed there weren’t very many activities for children in the area.

Whether you are the artistic type or just looking to have some fun, HOTplate has something for everyone. HOTplate has two different locations, one is home to HOTplate Pottery and the other is HOTplate Clayworks. Both locations are sister stores and offer plenty of activities for students and community members to participate in.

After all that virtual learning this school year, kids are really craving hands-on in-person activities this summer. One area studio is encouraging them to roll up their sleeves, grab some clay, and get creative in mixed media, with the end result of having the most impressive art gallery of anyone in their neighborhood.

Couples have had to stretch their creativity during the pandemic for stay-at-home date nights and other things to do.
