At the Contemporary Ceramic Studios Association (CCSA), we are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community. We celebrate and value the unique perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences of our members and strive to create an environment where everyone feels respected, heard, and included.
History
Ceramic studios have been a beloved part of communities for decades. In the early days, they were small, dusty shops in nearly every neighborhood. Customers would select a mold, mix their slip, and pour their own piece. A few days later, they’d return to clean, paint, and finish their creation. This traditional process was the heart of what we now call Traditional Ceramic Studios.
Today’s Contemporary Paint-Your-Own Pottery (PYOP) studios have evolved, offering a more streamlined and diverse experience. While the core of creating personalized pottery remains, many studios now feature additional crafts like fused glass, clay, mosaics, woodwork, and canvas painting, creating an exciting environment for creativity and community.
And then, a group of visionary founders set out to connect suppliers with studio owners, foster collaboration among studio owners, and create a space for sharing ideas, launching products, finding inspiration, and networking—all under one roof.
Thus, the CCSA was born, bringing those goals to life and uniting the community in ways never before imagined.
Going forward…
The CCSA has grown to over 600 members worldwide, but our founding principles remain at the core of everything we do. For studio members, we offer a wealth of benefits, including exclusive savings, quarterly project guides, monthly webinars, and endless networking opportunities. For suppliers, we provide direct access to studios, a platform to launch new products, and a chance to expand their reach.
Our annual convention is one of the most anticipated events in the industry, with valuable classes and an exhibit hall full of suppliers showcasing the latest innovations.
