Calling all artists! Paint a bowl from Pottery 2 Paint to help fundraise for Volunteers for America

RAPID CITY, S.D.– Calling all artists, as the Empty Bowls fundraiser returns following a pandemic-induced hiatus. Empty Bowl is the biggest fundraiser for the Volunteers of America, making everything they do possible.

The Volunteers of America and Pottery 2 Paint provide the bowls and they need your creativity to make them stand out. Artists and would-be artists have until March 5th to donate $20 and paint a bowl to be used during the soup feed. The $20 fee also covers a $10 discount on tickets to the Empty Bowl event.

Contact Pottery 2 Paint during open studio hours at 605-716-3331 to schedule a time for your artistic endeavor.

Additionally, Pottery 2 Paint will donate $2 to the Volunteers of America for every bowl painted. “We wanted to make sure that there was actually a monetary amount going back with that. It’s important just because we wanted to make sure that our community specifically was benefiting,” Pottery 2 Paint Owner Jenna Kessler said.

The Empty Bowl event will feature gourmet soups provided by event sponsors. The donations from the painted bowls, as well as, the Empty Bowl event will help provide necessary funding for Volunteers of America. “It gets diapers for our Mom’s Closet for parents caretaking young children. It provides food for our food pantry for those coming in that are suffering from food insecurity. It helps our veterans with basic needs as far as hats, gloves any kind of those services when they come into our outreach center,” Programs Manager for Veterans Services at Volunteers of America Joshua Harris said. The Empty Bowl event will take place on Thursday, March 23rd at the Central States Fair Grounds. You can purchase tickets for the event here.
