Five local businesses you need to visit downtown

Nothing is more unique than handmade and hand-painted pottery. At Nellie Dog Pottery & Paints visitors make their own beautiful creations with the help of staff.

Owner Nikki Bridenbaugh bought the store in 2017 when it moved to Chillicothe. The shop was originally started in 2014 in Jackson, Ohio. When she found out the business was for sale Bridenbaugh gave up her corporate job to run it. She says this was not a hard decision for her to make as it gave her more time to spend with her family.

"People come in here for different reasons," said Bridenbaugh. "Some come in here to relax and take a mental health break, others come in to spend time with family."

The business sees many returning customers coming to the pottery room to make their own pieces. Guest can come in to paint pottery and canvases, the stores also offers parties for special occasions such as birthdays and bridal showers. Nellie Dog encourages walk-ins anytime during their normal business hours.
