Hi Vicki, what makes you happy? Why?
Like most of us the things that make me happy are laughing babies, warm puppies and a gentle rain. But I am most happy when I am helping others. It makes me feel good inside to watch someone else be successful at a project they are working on that I have helped them with. I get great satisfaction knowing that I had a part in their happiness too.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
When Art on Fire came into being it wasn’t without hesitation. We had a vision to make it a place that people would want to return to again and again. But timing was hard – mostly because of Covid – so we struggled. We were closed down completely after only a few months of being opened. So really getting going took almost a year. When we reopened, business was good and since then we have really grown. We have modified and restructured our original vision to become what we are currently. We offer so many things from paint-your-own-pottery and ceramics to pottery wheel classes to canvas art. We have parties and special classes for all ages. We have guest artist share their talents. And we have succeeded in our goal to have our customers return over and over. I think we are different because we don’t just sell services or products to customers, we want to serve our friends both new and old. People feel that in our studio and want to come back because of it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We had good friends that came from New Zealand to visit us and we had a great time showing them around. We went and had dinner on a dinner cruise at Lake Pleasant. We went to Tombstone and Bisbee and, of course, there is the Grand Canyon and Kartchner Caverns. In the Valley, we enjoy going to Rio Mirage Mexican Restaurant in El Mirage and The PInk Door Tea House in Glendale. Hiking in the White Tank Mountains and hanging out at Rio Vista Park is always enjoyable.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My staff and co-workers, Amii, Michelle, Hannah, Angela, Josh and Kaylie are all important in the success we have at Art on Fire. God has placed just the right people in just the right place to make our studio a special place.
